to 2000

Jack Spiers, Secretary saw the Church through it's Centenary year and celebrations even though there was no minister at that time. Earlier during his term in office Mr Spiers had been Baptist Union of Scotland President in 1986 /87. In March 1998 the Church called Mr Donald Currie B.A. B.D. to be it's Minister. He was ordained and inducted on 23rd May 1998. At the end of 1998 Jack Spiers retired as Church Secretary and Adrian Currie was appointed in his place.

Since early 1999, 3 (12 week series of) Alpha Courses led by the Minister were held on Wednesday nights in the Church hall. From the second of these, House-group 2 commenced in January 2000. This meant 2 Wednesday evening groups meeting for fellowship, bible study and prayer.

For the first time for some years, the decline in the total membership was stopped with 60 members in May 1999 and also in May 2000. This was a gain of 3 following 3 baptisms and a loss of 3 elderly members who passed to Glory.

In 1998, the rear half of the manse at 2 Ormilee Terrace was re-slated; and in summer 1999 fire doors, fire partitions and a fire detector alarm system were installed in the main Church building. In Spring 2000 improvement works were carried out on the Church hall building. These included replacing external wall lining boards, double glazing, and under-floor ventilation and cost £17,613.

In July 2000 a week's Step Out Mission was held for children and young people. 9 young people from other Churches helped with this outreach. Several children made profession of faith.
